Re: Signals along the way.

Many thanks for the reply Steve! I am ever so grateful for your time and knowledge, I hope this is not too much of a noob annoyance! Re: Signals along the way.

Many thanks for the reply Steven, I'll have a shot at modifying the pic links when I'm back in front of a pc again. How would the go/caution/stop interact with traffic and turnouts? Would it be similar to the UK block methods?

Re: Signals along the way.

Hi Steven, Many thanks for the quick reply. I am modelling parts of KZN, I know the token system is used in Malvern extensively on Metro which I am not covering, my layout is mostly mainline between Durban and the KZN Midlands. I have found some images that have some of the signals I am hoping to em...

Re: Signals along the way.

Hi All, I know this is a long shot, but could someone explain the light signal colours, usage, arrangement and combinations of main line and siding lighting used in South Africa? I am trying to get my model rail road as prototypical as possible. This may a be a "how long is a piece of string&qu...

Re: 3kV DC/25kV AC Transition

Found this info on wikipedia about TGV's that use different power sources TGVs have two pairs of pantographs, two for AC use and two for DC use. When passing between areas of different supply voltage, marker boards remind the driver to turn off power to the traction motors, lower the pantograph(s), ...

Re: New GE C30ACi's

Hi all, Can anyone get a measuring tape and get a few measurements off the C30ACi (particulaly length and width, preferably cabin dimensions and grill sizes)? Re: 3kV DC/25kV AC Transition

Hi Rob, From research that I have done on the matter, I can safely guess that they can switch without having to lower their patograph. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_African_Class_19E#Characteristics "is a dual voltage locomotive, designed to operate on either 3 kV DC or 25 kV AC and it is ...
