Gabor,
I believe this loco is actually ex-Rustenburg Platinum Mine, back when RPM's surface railway was 2' gauge. There IS a Sub-Nigel 0-6-2T at Gold Reef City, plinthed under the mine's headgear. Sub-Nigel was 2'6" gauge.
cheers
Paul

Re: Threats to steam in Europe
Interesting Paul.
I am more au fait with the situation in the USA (having some rail heritage contacts there) and the situation is often similar there too - some lines under threat and others in danger. But, one important difference in the States is that where a professional non political approach ...

Threats to steam in Europe

Balfour-Bethlehem line
Does anyone know if there is any traffic on the Balfour-Frankfort-Bethlehem line?
Who could I speak to at TFR for info?
I have long wanted to get a pic of a train crossing the magnificent bridge over the Vaal at Villiers, and the route southwards is lovely country for rail photography.
Thanks ...

Re: Millsite scrapping - HRASA statements and letters
Coming late to the dirty washing debate (I've been on a long road trip to look at our ailing branch lines), there are just two things to be said.
1. I am one of the many people on the e-mail list for communications from Mike Myers, SIA et al, and while I believe in open communication, some of the ...

Re:
Two or three years ago, after I showed a DVD of the Eritrean Railway to a few people, we looked seriously at arranging a FOTR trip. I've got a mate in Asmara who was willing to book us into cheap hotels and find transport cheaper than a tour agent could, and we found out how much Eritrean Railways ...
