Re: Calgary train derailment with 14 cars
Hi John,
I can't say what went wrong at the train crash in Germany. Let's wait for the findings of an investigation.

Lost tracks of time
I think you would prefer to fight against the nature than against sleeper thiefs?
Then you should watch these pictures of the "Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railway"

But I hope these lin...

Re: Hello, and a couple of questions
I saw your question today when I was looking your profile. Here can you find timetables for Metrorail: http://www.metrorail.co.za/Timetables.html (but I'm not really sure if the timetables up to date - one timetable was dated 3 June 2012) and maybe might help this website for informations about pass...

Umgeni Steam Railway Podcast
I'm not sure if this is in the correct part of the forum, but I think it might interest you.
Found just a podcast from SAFM - Time to travel, where they among other things also speak about the Umgeni Steam Railway.
Here is the link to this podcast:

Re: London Underground in the 1970s/80s (photos)
Why did I expect pictures of underground trains?
There are no pictures of trains, but interesting pictures of the life in the 70's / 80's.
I like picture 29 - Is not hard to understand that there is closed.

Re: Class 18 690
Steve, Thank you for your explanation about the class 18 and the links to wikipedia. When I saw the pictures at Craig's Blog I was wondering if all class 18 locos have only one window on the other side, but I could it not recognize while watching the pictures #3, 5. I also saw the different windows ...

Class 18 690
I found a picture on Craig Duckham's blog of the class 18 690. I tried to ask the question at thatsite, but I think I need a profile there. So I ask it here, maybe someone knows the answer. Why looks the class 18 690 so different to the other class 18 locos? Is it the only class 18 which looks so di...
