I am not a "Train guy" in the real sense of the word but love the old photos posted here. My interest is in photos of Cape Town from the sixties to the eighties of which I run a collection on Flickr.
In my constant search for new material I often come across stuff I cannot use, but are nevertheless ...

These photos were taken in 1947 on occasion of the Royal tour of South Africa.
To my knowledge these are the only colour photos from that event in existence .
Would love it if anybody could prove me wrong!
