The Watercress Line

I have relocated to the UK this year and was fortunate enough to take a short visit to the stations on the Watercress Line. Pics were not great for some reason, and it was a Thomas the Tank Engine themed weekend, so please excuse the faces. watercress 003.jpg watercress 014.jpg watercress 037.jpg wa...

Re: What the old SAR was really like...

I did my apprenticeship with the old SAR, although it was known as "Transnet" while I was there, and the biggest problem we had were "dead mans shoes". You waited for the the guy above you to retire or die before you got promoted, or you transferred to some dorpie in the middle o...

Re: Why are YOU not posting on the forum?

Personally I think facebook is killing off contributions. I know I dont visit here as often as I do anymore, but part of the reason for that is I do not really have much new to add. My retrenchment has curtailed a lot of my running around and travelling so I dont really get out as much anymore.

Re: Longer than planned Gautrain trips limit passenger growt

Methinks that they did not really do their homework properly to begin with. The fact remains it is still a mjaor pain to get to the stations which are all geared toward the northern suburbs, in some cases it is quicker to drive to the airport than get stuck in the traffic in sandton, and the parking...

Re: Capacity problems, extended hours for Gautrain

I do know there have been a lot of complaints about the parking getting full at many of the stations and people haveing to ride around for ages trying to get parking, and occasionally have to abandon the search and drive to work instead. I do a once weekly trip from Marlborough to Pretoria and they ...

Re: 6E1 underneath bits

I seem to recall that somebody at the one facebook group I was on had very good images of the 6E1 underbits as well, I am no longer on that group but may still have the pics floating around. I will drop you a pm if I find them Michael. Ok, just checked now, I dont have the pics any longer, and the g...

Re: Identify a loco and location from video?

It is definitely Magaliesburg and 1535, but by the same token, the grass there is horribly dry and that in itself is a problem, it could also be that the train was stopped past the level crossing and RS staff then fought the fire. Unfortunately I just see people running and no real fire. It would be...

Re: Photography on the Gautrain Forbidden.

Yep, its becoming very dangerous to travel with the gautrain, you may be arrested for not sitting up straight or for not letting passengers disembark. One of these days somebody is going to take them on and its going to come out in the courts and be very messy and expensive.

Re: Toddler traps finger in model train track

I bet lots of lawyers are rubbing their hands together, and now the makers of the track are going to have to fix warning labels and stickers and a commission will be formed in Brussels to look into the dangers of toy tracks.
