With a mere 5%, Africa may only have a small share of the global market volume for electric locomotives, but it is the most dynamic market and as such will increase in importance in the future. With a growth of 7.8% p.a. over the next five years, Africa is ahead of the leading regions - Asia, CIS and Europe as well as the global growth of 3.4% p.a. The relatively high market volumes in Africa result primarily from the sizeable procurements of South African operator Transnet.
