That's an interesting question! As we rode past it yesterday (twice), I certainly didn't notice that it wasn't on rails, but the photo looks as if it isn't. Must have another look next time.

Sorry John, But if you look closely, you will see rails in your sharp photo at both ends of the van.

Yes, soon after this photo was posted we started running to and from Hercules instead of Capital Park and we stopped going through CPK yard, so I never bothered to follow up on Kevin's question and I hadn't looked at this photo for nine months until today, when I wanted to post a link to it on another thread. As soon as I looked at it again I could clearly see the rails, and I also noticed for the first time that it's standing under an old water column.
