Union Limited Circa 1990's

Post by Stefan Andrzejewski »

The Union Limited leaves Cape Town via the Paarden Eiland line for Knysna. Milly 15 AR was at some stage the station pilot at De Aar. I know that she has been scrapped. 16DA 879.Used frequently for the Union Limited. Does anyone know where she is? Hopefully its good news.

Classic steam locos. Both still under your nose at Epping I believe, minus many pipes but still in existence.
"Milly" is an unreboilered 15A.
Only other 15A around is 1791 languishing in Millsite dump. FOTR hope to repatriate her to Pretoria one day.

Nice memories. The last time I saw steam in operation at Cape Town station was the class 24 on the ex - Spier set run by the now, Atlantic Rail. Whats happened to them?

There is nothing on their website but a pic!
Heard that they ran into RSR issues which need to be clarified before running. A big opprtunity for the relaunch of steam trains in Cape Town has thus been missed.
