EdiRail loco maintenance depot Newcastle (NSW)
Whilst working here I took a few snaps. The depot can service a max of six locos at any one time. The locos work the Hunter Valley coal mines, and bring their loads to Newcastle port for export.

I was in Newcastle about 8 years ago on a speaking tour of Australia - unfortunately I didn't get the chance to visit any rail-related stuff while I was there on that trip. Is the Hunter Valley also famous as a wine producing area? I seem to remember visiting a vineyard there.

Home to Rosemount Estate Winery, which produces my favourite Chardonnay!
And to keep things on topic! A few pic's of brand new GM 82 class loco's outside the EDI maintenance depot, not long after it first opened in 1994.
