There is a Reefsteamers train going through to Magaliesberg tomorrow (21 Feb) according to the newspaper. Which is the best spot to photograph her close to Maraisburg station? I hope to get some pics if I can tomorrow and am going on the trip on the 7th of March. Hopefully "Lyndie Lou" will be doing the dirty work, or maybe my favourite "Susan".

Right... somebody slipped up. No train appeared. I suspect that the newspaper ad was wrong which was very dissapointing. I did get some pics of 2 goods trains and that was about all. sigh.
Have to wait till the 7th I guess.

Derek, don't Reefsteamers advertise their trains on their website?

With FOTR you can always check our train schedule on our main website (www.friendsoftherail.com) and can also confirm with a quick question to the forum here.

John, they advertise the trains that they are physically "hosting", those that have been charted by some other groups do not get mentioned on their website any longer. The ad I saw appeared in a local paper where I stay advertising the train and it was not mentioned as being specifically a Reefsteamers one. But chances are RS would have been running the engine for them. Its not a disaster though, Its just that I wonder how many people saw the ad, contacted the number and ended up dissapointed? I do know the next RS train is March 7.

Ah, that makes sense, and in fact we do the same on our main website. But the added advantage of having a forum like ours is that questions can be asked and answered pretty quickly.

Better luck next time!

Many of the SANRASM group in Krugersdorp, use the Reef Steamers locomotives on their trains. That probably explains why there are some "unknown" workings!

Nathan is correct.

Derek - saw your post on "where to take pics" above - missed it previously. Sorry! Do you live in the area - I do, so maybe we should get together for the odd photo outing?

Send me a PM or e-mail with your telephone number if you are interested.....

Kevin, I live in Horizon, maybe we should all see who is in this area and go visit Millsite, I would love ID's on some of the loco's. A PM is on its way.
