Purple 6e1s
Got a surprise when I saw these 3 6E1 Shozoloza Meyl electrics pulling into Koedoespoort (workshops). I take it from this that they wont be converting these any time soon to 18Es, wonder if there are any 6E1s in the new TFR colours?

James, these have been stunning pics, thanks for the effort that you have put into posting them here. I cant say I like the "Purple People Eater" look, but the red livery looks great. Will be interesting to see how it wears though.
Not quite on the rails.

James, I've definately seen new liveried 6E1's coming past Germiston, but I don't think there's a massive repainting scheme going on at TRE for TRE

They look great - much better than the 18Es. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see these working out of Cape Town....

Nice when new but look at the other photos posted when the colour purple has been weathered!

There are a couple of superb pictures of purple 6E1s by Eugene Armer on RailPictures.Net here and here, with semaphore signals too.

E1654 based in Cape Town now, hauling the premiere classe from CPT to JHB this morning. I caught her at Malan station outside of Wellington.
Re: Purple 6e1s
well I believe from April (been every April for 2 years now) they will belong to PRASA, including the 18E purple ones, so thank you TFE/R for revamping units for us :)
