Some Pic's from our recent trip.

Post by Stefan Andrzejewski »

After taking almost 200 photos during the journey from Cape Town to Jo'burg I have chosen a few to share. I will post more on my Website later.

Nice one Stefan. It's good to see E1667 at work in the Western Cape, as I saw her hard at work back in 07 in Kimberley. I also see that E1950 still has the shroud fitted that covered the camera when she was a Blue Train loco - is the camera still there, I wonder....

Those Shoz Meyl locos do not wear their livery well when dirty, do they? Still, I expect nothing less from a railway that has been privatised for umpteen years, and STILL has locos in SAR livery (and Spoornet brown, orange & blue)

I arrive in SA on January 4th 2010. I CANNOT wait to see my favourite 6E1s again - I am just disappointed that the Mafikeng trains are at an end, and I will not see my old friend 34-113 again, as she is now a WC loco!!

All the best,
Jez

I doubt that those camera's are still in operation as the Blue Trainn does use these 6E1's anymore.

Hi Stefan thanks for sharing your pics of the trip. I see we have one of the purple shos 6E1's down here in Cape Town, not too sure if there is more on the way. I have not yet been able to snap it or get the number. Will certainly get one soon!

Hi Morne. I would like to see it here. I also have not seen it. I visited Bellville Loco a couple of months ago and she must have been out on the road.

Stefan I think they very recently arrived in Cape Town. I work in Paarden Eiland and have a nice view over the mainline and I only noticed one so far with other 6e1's pulling the shos out of Cape Town, first time I saw her was about 2 weeks ago!
