2 6E1 pulling the Shosholoza Meyl nearing johannesburg

Our Shosholoza Meyl was pulled by two loco's all the way. Not sure about during the night from de Aar what we had.

interesting having the old and new pantographs.

Hi Allan , great set of Shos photos. After Beaufort West they change to a 7E and just before Kimberly back to the 6E1's. I see you had two. I also note you had two car coaches. Perhaps the extra weight is too much for one 6E1.

Thanks Stefan, yes our train had two car carriers and 16 coaches. Is that a normal length.
I must still write up the story of our trip, will do that soon.

Notice the two types of pantographs on the locomotives.

and both loco's are using the front pantograph normally its the rear one been used
