Re: Purple Diesel
Thanks, Luca. They were forwarded to us via at least one intermediary with a request to post them, but I wasn't sure exactly who took them.
Re: Purple Diesel
Now that is VERY interesting - I was told on my January visit that 35-213 & 214 were going to be the only diesels painted purple...
34-007 looks gooood.

Most probably as backup to electric traction failures? What about Pietersburg-Messina?

Re: Purple Diesel
Seen today at Pyramid South- purple 34-821, no doubt awaiting transfer to Pietersburg.

The guardrails seem to suggest so - but why keep them?Stefan Andrzejewski wrote:An old Iscor Loco?

Another point of note....
The logos on the Class 34-000, the Class 6E1s, 7Es and the 18Es are all plain yellow.
The 2x35-200s I photographed in January had multi-coloured logos...

There is a Premier Klasse train set for sale on bidorbuy that has purple diesels....
Class 34-181
The seller says.... "The 34 Diesel is modeled on one of the first three 34 diesels to be put into service by Shosholoza Meyl"

Re: Purple Diesel
The "Bid or Buy" set is brilliant. I wish I had 30k to spend on trains. I think my wife would kill me even if I did have the money. Well done to whoever did it.
