Photos of motive and rolling stock, stations, signals and anything else train related in U.K. & Ireland! Photos should be 800x600 pixels, maximum size 130K. Very good ones will be moved to the Online Gallery, the rest will be pruned away after 14 days to conserve space.

This original poster was produced by the SR (Southern Railways) and is a good example of the "homely" style favoured in the 1930's.

Very common in it's approach and somewhat bland, this style of picture tended to reflect the complacency and comfort of the age.

This particular poster was painted from an actual photograph taken by the Southern Railways and was the subject of a "characture" poster issued in responser by the LNER - the latter actually being a really true work of art!
