Matjiesfontein part 2

Post by fanie kleynhans »

Here are a few pics of trains that I took while there. On google earth I found a S curve about 4 km west of town and spend some time there, the other pics were teken in town. I'm including a pic I took of a pic in the museum, what is the locos in front of that train, 5E?

That is a 5E1 of UCW build, one of the early ones before the they changed the front on the balance of the class.

Andreas, the next time you are in South Africa , you have to take a trip on the Premier Classe. Its fantastic. We have done it twice and when the money flows again will do it to PE (Port Elizabeth)

Stefan I'm also thinking of doing a Premier Classe trip to PE somewhere in the future, only problem is I would prefer 33's in front but dont think that is going to happen. When we past Worcester yard on our trip 2x35's were idling there, probably power for the PC.

If you caught the train, how did you get to the bend for pictures? Did you walk there?

As I am thinking of stopping here with the train for a few days.

Hello Stefan,
Yes I missed riding a train last holiday. If there had been a train from PE to Jo'burg that day when I had to go to Jo'burg I had prefer to use the train than the plane. I think should I ever come back to South Africa one day, Iwill do a train ride.
