LNER Poster #20 Make Up A Party!

Post by Kevin Wilson-Smith »

Painted by SE Scott in 1929, this poster was to advertise the North East Coast Exhibition, pronoted by Newcastle-on-Tyne.

It was intended to revive trade in the area and was a major success, attracting over 4 million visitors!

LNER had their own display and information stand.

Other exhibits were numerous, and there was also an amusement park, flower gardens and a stadium. There was a complete African village on display, complete with 100 Senegalese, as well as early aircraft and tanks. A hotel was also built specially for up-market visitors!

A really classic poster from the period!
