Back to 70s.
The Orange Express has just arrived at the Orange River service stop on her northbound run from De Aar, on a cold winter's night.

Excellent photo, but I'm sure the shedman would've been fired to sending such a dirty loco out with an important train like the Orange Express

Its an "F" they were supposed to look like that!

I know where this headboard is today, stored inside a Dining Car at George!

I believe the "F" had a "cough and splutter" during light-up again, thus the dirty smokebox front . . .
