Britain's last railway gun

Post by John Ashworth »

The August 2010 Railway Magazine has an interesting article on the last surviving British railway gun, which apparently few people knew existed. It is in a Royal Artillery camp in Larkhill, Wiltshire. The article gives details, with photos and drawings, of a number of British railway guns.

SA also had one. It was placed on a flat wagon and operated between Muizenberg and Simonstown during WW2. Never used in anger and uncertain when it was taken out of service.
