Plinhed loco at Midmar Dam 1995 - 2 pictures

Post by Andreas Umnus »

I hope that I'm right that this loco was plinthed at Midmar Dam.
I took this picture in 1995 and it was the only photo I took there from the plinthed locos.
So I can't tell you which one stands behind the loco you see on this photo.
To be found out if it is really Midmar Dam I post the picture of the "railway station" here too.
It would be fine when you let me know if i'm right or wrong.

H2 330 and 14R 1718. One of the coaches was Dining Car Tugela but not sure about the rest.

330 is at George on display.
1718 is at Bloem and stripped.
Tugela is gutted and derelict at Salt River.

Did you take any photos of the shackleton and tug there?

I think the station Building is that of the old Cato Ridge station.

Shame on me that I didn't took a picture of the 14R 1718. Now it's too late.
I don't know the reasons why I didn't take a picture of that loco. Sorry.

I'm sorry I don't unterstand what you exactly mean with the word "shackleton". Do you mean with that "boat"? Then I don't have pictures of boats taken there.
With "tug" - do you mean also a kind of boat or do you mean the train which was operating there?
If you mean "train" then is the answer YES. Tell me where to post and I will post the pictures I took of the train.

Also thank you for telling me the station name.

steam tug - steam powered pilot boat. Big steam boat was painted white with yellow funnel.
Shackleton - big grey / blue aircraft.

Both have since been scrapped.
