- The derailer on the shunting neck. It is designed to derail a locomotive to prevent it from running back onto the main line without authority. Here it is in the off position, ie it is safe to pass over it.

- Nathan trims coal. We battled with coal full of fine dust, and had to trim coal several times on the trip. At Rayton we were able to do a proper job of it as we were not under an overhead wire so we could climb into the tender and stand up safely
