Transnet image?

Post by Hermann Kuhne »

Can somebody please explain, or try to, the attitude of Transnet towards the following. We've been busy on the Railworks 2013 route from Pietermaritzburg to Ladysmith for quite some time now. It took a huge effort and many, many hours of work. At the last moment we decided to ask permission from Transnet to use the Spoornet logo on a true South African 6E and other rolling stock that we want to add to this package to make it authentic. The Transnet official we contacted denied our request. "The image of Transnet must be considered".
Ours would be the only Railway package world wide running a "no-name brand"! Can you imagine that? British Rail, DB and each and every American, Australian (etc. etc) route and rolling stock are proudly displaying their logos. I can't for the life of me think how we can do the image of Transnet bad. At least, our locos are clean. At least the environment at our stations and along the route are clean and free from any debris. That's an image booster!
Wonder whether this was not a one-man decision.

Hi Hermann,
Perhaps you might like to consider approaching HRASA for assistance? See http://www.hrasa.co.za
