North british Locomotive builders plate

Post by John Fellows »

Hi, I'm John in the UK; I've just had the very good fortune to win of Ebay, a North British loco builders plate ( diamond type).
The seller did'nt give any details, but the build date on it is 1928 and the works number 23860.
Now according to my records, this appears to have been fitted to a Rhodesian Railways 10th class loco.
Would anyone have the means to confirm this ?
And perhaps the loco running number ?
I've been after one of these plates for many years, and to have paid only £15 (R150 ?) for it, was a real stroke of luck!
Plus it seems to have come of an African loco, which makes it all the better !
Hope someone can add a bit more info.

Many thanks John

Hopefully someone here will have an answer. But if you haven't already done so, I would suggest you contact Ken Livermore at the North British Locomotive Preservation Group. His newsletters are posted on this forum under http://www.friendsoftherail.com/phpBB2/ ... m.php?f=39 and his contact details can be found there. Good luck!
