costs to restore steam loco

Post by Dylan Knott »

Anyone have a rough idea of the restoration costs for a steam loco?

Use a derelict class 14R as example. Include new axle boxes etc.

What has it left on it? Has it also a reasonable boiler? Check boiler records first .

Clack valves intact, but cab and other fittings stripped.
Wheels ok but axle boxes may need to be replaced.
Last ran late 1980's.
Min retube and possible axle box replacement.
Condition of firebox unknown. Other defects also unknown.
