Koedespoort - shunters' van

Post by John Ashworth »

No doors or windows, and stripped inside, but otherwise fairly sound looking.

John- I noticed in your recent batch of photos that most of the rolling stock have 3 white X's spray painted on their sides. What does this mean?

These vehicles are to be scrapped, and that's what the 3 white Xs indicate. We are hoping to acquire some of them before they get scrapped.

From Koedespoort it's only a short ride to Capital Park and Hercules!

Assuming it's travel-worthy, it would be worth taking it to Hercules to save it. We definitely don't have the resources to renovate it, even cosmetically, but at least we could throw a tarpaulin over it and keep it safe untio someone else can do so.

Agree with you there.

4878 was part of Kimberley se Trein at some stage.

Some of these vehicles are worthwhile saving, even if only for future restoration.
