Balfour-Bethlehem line

Post by Paul Ash »

Does anyone know if there is any traffic on the Balfour-Frankfort-Bethlehem line?

Who could I speak to at TFR for info?

I have long wanted to get a pic of a train crossing the magnificent bridge over the Vaal at Villiers, and the route southwards is lovely country for rail photography.

Thanks

Paul

Paul,
My suggestion is the National Operations Centre (NOC), TFR in Parktown, Jhb. They issue all YQ's and train diagrams, and have built a new room where the exact position of theoretically every train (and every wagon) in the country is logged in 'real time'.

Try Dirk Coetzee 011-5449019 at NOC- very helpful, ask him for advice. I would also like to know the answer. Apparently there still is grain traffic as needed here.
