This picture brings back memories, when FotR operated the last steam working across the entire length of the Magaliesburg Branch, using FotR's Class 24 No#3664.
It feels like it just happened the other day when just a little further up the line, on the southern side of the gorge. 3664 stopped to allow the griecers off the train, set back down the gorge to a point, and then rushed forward to the line of griciers with cameras accurately being aimed on the subject matter at hand!
The locos exhaust eventually drowned out the rapid clicks of camera shutters and the motionless cloud of black exhaust smoke hanging above, near the top of the gorge . . . . .
