The decline of the dining saloon

I will be honest, I am not the 5 courses and silver service kind of oke myself (Unless I am on board ship) and all I am interested in is plain, simple and honest grub that is not overpriced, wont leave me in the bog or leave a legacy of heartburn. I do think the age of the old style dining saloon is gone forever on the run of the mill shosh meyl and its not likely to return. The sad part though is that we have not really gained anything meaningful when the dining saloon went quick and nasty, all we got was modern fast food attitudes, plastic coffee, polystyrene cups and garishly painted refreshment coaches that do no justice to what went before.

Toasted cheese and ham anybody??

I think that as long as people migrate back to rail travel, then the menu will dictate what passengers will want to eat. After the Premier Classe journey's I feel stuffed and uncomfortable. ( I am not really) a big eater.
