I am seriously thinking about taking an adventure Kei Rail trip around the middle of November 2012.
Anyone else up for joining me?
Most likely East London to Mthatha, overnight and then return.
I would appreciate any info, tips or advice...
* Still Mthatha to East London with a locomotive change at Amabele?
* Is the train still daily, both ways? (weekdays)
* Recommended accommodation in Mthatha?
* Is the locomotive power still supplied by Sheltam? (Friendly contact
at Sheltam?)
* Anything else?

Just spoken to one of the operators, quietly been told that the train isn't currently running. No dates were given for resumption of the service.

KEI RAIL OPERATIONS SUSPENDED
It is understood that the daily passenger service operated by the Eastern Cape provincial government between Amabele junction and Mthatha has been suspended. It is believed one of the parties supporting the project has withdrawn. The province is keen to have the service restored as soon as possible.
