Some 40 million euros allotted to improve Ethio-Djibouti Railway

Addis Ababa, January 16, 2008 (WIC) – Some 40 million euro has been allotted to improve the Ethio-Djibouti Railway, according to the Djiboutian Ambassador to Ethiopia.

Ambassador Ibrahim Mohammed told WIC that activities have been underway to build a new railway line with the amount of money obtained from the European Union in the just concluded year.

He said discussions have begun with a well known Kuwaiti company and construction works would begin on the conclusion of the negotiations.

The construction and upgrading of the railway line would help consolidate the people to people relations of the two countries and efficiently carry out the import and export trade, the ambassador indicated.
