Strasburg Railroad: camel-back locomotive

A rare surviving example of a rather unusual locomotive. Must have been very uncomfortable for the footplate crew. Sadly they have no plans to restore it, as it is not a very practical locomotive for a heritage railway.

A photo of this Loco taken in 1974 as Strasburg 4 when I believe she had recently come to the end of her boiler certification.

Another one from Railroad.Net, a Lackawanna, with the Delaware water gap in the background, where the Delaware river cuts through the Appalachian Range on the border between Pennsylvania and New Jersey. I've hiked that part of the Appalachian Trail.
