Frescura, with good reason, suggests that conservation in South Africa is a disaster

Not directly a heritage railway story, but one that discusses SA's heritage preservation generally. This issue has important implications for heritage railway preservation and its present state.

This article by Herbert Prins that highlights a critique by Dr Frescura on the state of heritage conservation in South Africa that appeared on The Heritage Portal on the 1st December, 2015. Ms Smuts and Mr Gribble, responded to the criticism, writing on behalf of South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), in which they mount a defense of the national authority.
