Senegal commuter railway to open in Dakar

Senegal: Railway to open in Darkar [sic] on Monday amidst protests
Senegal will on Monday December 27 welcome a new commuter railway line after having to wait for the past 5 years for work on the project to be completed.

This transport system is aimed at reducing journey times and also decongesting the city once the TER regional express begins operation.

According to the general manager for SETER, the TER operating company, Frédéric Bardenet only a selected group of people will be allowed to use the train when operation begins. "…we will transport all the school children on the line, as well sports and cultural associations. We are still in the phase of programme implementation"...

Senegal railway opening overshadowed by compensation protest
Members of a collective, who have come together to speak out about 'the brutal way' they were evicted to make space to build Senegal's capital city Dakar's new regional express railway, continue to talk about their plight. Estimated at more than 15,000 people, the victims are demanding their compensation and threatening to sabotage the inauguration of the train. One says that 'the State owes us more than 50 billion CFA francs (76 million euros)'...
There seems to be some unclarity in these reports as to whether it in "express", a "regional" or a "commuter" service - or all three?!

Senegal's first regional trains make first journey between Darkar and Diaminiado
After five years and several false starts, the Dakar Regional Express Train was on Monday December 27 opened to passengers. The first train took off at 14 15 for the inaugural trip between Darkar and Diaminiado. Though it had been initially announced that the 35 kilometer route would take 20 minutes, it took an hour and fifteen minutes to reach its destination...

Senegal: Société D'exploitation Du Train Express Régional (Seter) Officially Commissioned
Senegal’s Dakar-Diamniadio regional express train, which received support from AFD, was officially inaugurated on 27 December 2021. The network so far consists of 36km of track, 14 stations, and reaches 160 km/h. The service operates every 10 minutes between 5:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. (note, some fact sheets also state 35km and 13 stations)...
