- The empty smokebox chamber of 3117. There were a number of places where gaps had to be closed up by welding metal strips in place to prevent sparks from being emitted, and thus preventing line side fires. To affect the repair, the complete petticoat and chimney had to be removed. Work was also carried out on the left side branch steam pipe

- The branch steam pipe on the driver's side in the smokebox of 15F 3117. There was damage to the flange, which was cracked, and a small pin hole in the pipe itself
