Any lover of American logging locos should get this DVD.
It starts with 3 Shay locomotives running-by-side down triple tracks, spewing great billows of steam and smoke! Much noise and drama!
The Shays are then shown triple-heading to Bald Knob at the top of Black Allegheny Mountain with a passenger train in tow, followed closely by a vintage log train pulled by the railroad’s Heisler locomotive.
The Shays make numerous run-bys as they struggle up the daunting eleven percent grades of the mountainside.
THe DVD includes brief cab rides, as well as close-ups of the intricate systems of shafts, flywheels, and gears of both the Shays and Heisler.
Very dramatic and highly recommended!
