Old clerestory coach
Seen languishing in the Bellville yards- a forlorn but priceless clerestory saloon. Whoever owns it has little use for it..
Note the little trolley turntable behind the coach.

We have requested it for preservation. Another two has been discovered at Langlaagte and Ladysmith. Built as an Officers Caboose they were later replaced by steel cabooses. Has character.

Re: Old clerestory coach
While passing Millsite yesterdy a I spotted what looked like an intact clerestory coach on the far side of the diesel depot, near the gate that leads down to the mainline tracks, its inbetween a few petrol tankers. There are also 2 (possibly 3) steel bodied mainline coaches at a substation just before Witpoortjie station, it looks like they have been incorporated into some sort of workshop. Kevin, maybe we should look at Millsite as a destination one day as discussed.
Not quite on the rails.

Those turntables were usually for the inspection trolleys. There was one still visible at Pretoria station and at Koedoespoort station.

It has number 7511 on it. The other had no discernable number

These are the coaches near Witpoortjie station, there are 3 of them in total. Only 1 has a number on it (naturally its the one I cant access...) but I think it is 22185.
