Susan at Reefsteamers

Post by Derek Walker »

Awhile back I posted a query about the old pilot loco at Germiston called Susan. I joined Reefsteamers 2 weeks ago and was re-united with her. She was definitely the one loco I recall from my past working in Germiston. Here she is in the shed at Reefsteamers, having some work done to her. I was hoping she would be pulling the train on Saturday to Magaliesburg, but if she cant make it I will still catch her again one day, considering I have been waiting since 1985!

I believe she is still not ready, and the 25NC will be working on Saturday. Should be ready next month.

Today, for the first time since 1986 I saw Susan steaming. I went down to Reefsteamers to have a peek at her but she was still in steam and posing for pics and puffing happily along with heaps of real happy and proud Reefsteamers ooh-ing and aah-ing. Myself included. I took lots of pics of my fav loco, she still looks as good as she did 20 years ago and everybody seems to be very happy with her. Tomorrow (29 March) she is heading to Magaliesburg for a revenue earning trip and hopefully next Saturday too.
Here are some pics I took.
