Steam Festival George Sept 1998

Post by Stefan Andrzejewski »

Here are some scenes from the Steam Festival. It was a great weekend and the highlight was meeting Dusty Durrant. What a character. We chatted for two hours. I could have listened to him all day.

Yes thats him. As he was in Steam Fever with those shorts and socks on his ankles brown shoes and red jersey. He has sadly passed away . I think about three years ago. His wife passed away shortly after that. She was also a train photographer. He was the most fascinating Railwayman I have ever met.

Dusty is about 10 years gone now. A real character, not squeeky clean mind you and many stories are told of his indiscretions. However he was a steam man through and through and was most entertaining. He used to give us shows at the Berea Park club where FIOTR used to meet. It was a mission to drag him out the bar to give his show!
