Sprit of the LMS

Post by neildimmer »

Hi All

Anyone have an idea what all this was about, a photo of Black 5 45207 taken at Lancaster by Bill Wright (who has given permission for me to use his photos) on the 5th August 1967 nearly 20 years after nationalisation

Carrying her BR number, and with "LMS" painted quite scrappily on the tender? An ex-LMS stalwart amongst the shed staff maybe, doing his bit unofficially to keep the LMS flag flying?

I hadn't realised the BR blue and white coach colour scheme started that early.
