This photo has me a bit perplexed, I have it down as being at Vaalwater, but it dosen't look like the other photos I've seen of Vaalwater. If not Vaalwater, the only other place on the branch it could be is Alma. The loco on the train is not 3684 "Makadas" so it must be 3683. It looks like there is a lot of sawdust near the loco. So, was this the stabling point at Alma for trains not going through to Vaalwater? Hopefully you can sort it out .

From Chris Janisch:
Dennis, I would suspect this is either Loubad or Tweestroom, definitely not Vaalwater or Alma. Have asked Nathan for ideas.
By the way, I am pretty sure that loco 3684 was not here - she was always a George loco. Nr 3687 was a regular Nylstroom engine so I think that is the correct number. I spent many hours wandering around Capital Park and remember when Vaalwater went that the 24s were immediately dumped alongside the 15Fs by the coalstage line.
However, nr 3632 went to George, and 3624 and 3647 went to Breyten for further service. I even had a footplate on 3624 on the Lothair branch with Nathan up-front on another 24!
Nrs 3683, 3687 and 3633 were dumped - 3633 is still at CPK, owned by SANRASM. Nrs 3624, 3683/7 were scrapped and 3647 is at Germiston for NBLPG. Chris.
