South African Railway 15 F # 2963
Hello, First of all, I'm new to this website. Was wondering if anyone had some information on a 15 F No. 2963 SAR Locomotive, is it preseved? does anyone have some photos? This is a great site, with lots of information - will keep me busy for some time I'm sure. Many thanks.

15F 2963 was staged at Bloemfontein, but was cut up in 2007.

Roger Siviter's book "Focus on South African Steam" has several black and white shots of this loco working on the Bethlehem line. Actually, if you look at the Sandstone website you will find some of them as they are shown alongside narrow gauge pics....

She was a clean Bloemfontein loco in the seventies.

Sorry gents, I'm not in a position to add much to this thread, because I never had the ability to see Bloemfontein, when steam was still in operation there!
However I can concur with Dylans' comment above!
All I can add, is that 2963 belong to the 3rd batch of 15Fs' (5 batches built), built by North British Locomotive Company (1939) and was mechanically fired.
