As far as I am aware (with the possible exception of the New York Central system), the South African Railways were the most prolific users of the 4-8-2 (or Mountain) type, with 1366 locos of 34 classes and sub classes (was there ever a 15D?).
Pic 1. Class 19D Nr 2747 leaving Manley Flat on the Grahamstown line, May 1980.
Pic 2. Unidentified class 23 at Karee koppie, 8 Oct 1974.
