A baby has survived after his pushchair rolled onto the tracks as a train pulled into a station in Melbourne, Australia.
The train had slowed right down as it pulled into the station and the six-month-old baby suffered only a bump to his head.
CCTV of the incident was released to local media. It shows the pram rolling off the platform while the baby's mother looks on in horror.

Saw this on TV. Looked like the pram was pushed straight under the train, though I am sure this was not the intention.
Ridiculous incident!

Hard to understand what exactly could have happened when the train presumably hit and then either pushed or rode over the pram. A baby might just 'fit' beneath the clearance, but certainly not the pram. Did the baby fall out or was he pushed along with the pram? Another question: Are platforms generally sloped toward the tracks, perhaps for drainage purposes? If so, surely things have rolled of onto the tracks many times before.

The film was down the platform.
It showed a woman on the right side in profile holding a pram.
She releases it and the pram runs left towards the edge of the platform and goes over the edge, at which point the train arrives and fills up the view...........

A couple of years ago the "Mythbusters" programme on DSTV investigated whether or not the slipstream from a fast-moving train could suck a baby's push-chair off the platform (which is clearly not what happened here). I don't remember the end result, although I do remember that the train blew the young lady's skirt up around her waist. They cut the pictures of that bit but you could hear her screams and the commentary by her male colleagues.

According to a subsequent newspaper report the train actually pushed the pram ahead of it for about 40m before coming to a halt. Fortunately the pram did not topple over or go under the train. Talk about lucky!!
