Hello,
I hope I post this link in the correct part of this forum. If not, please place it on the corrct part.

I found today a report in a German forum about a Steam Safari in 1979. 4000 Km on South African tracks.
I thought maybe it will be interesting for you to see it.
When I find the next part of the report, I will post it in this forum, too.

Here is the link to the first part:
Steam Safari in 1979. 4000 Km on South African tracks - Part 1

Have a nice Sunday.

Andreas

Thanks, Andreas. I was about to move it until I looked at it and realised it's full of photos, so I left it where it is. The text is all in German, but the photos are superb.

Look at how smart 15CA 2850 looks. Now if the readers here would like to contribute towards it, we could possibly have her in steam this year here at here home ground in Capital Park!!!

Using Google Translate I translated it and it didn't come out too unreadable.
Have a look here.

I also had a look in the topic list, but part two didn't seem to be available yet.

The author of the report answered that the next part is already in progress but it needs still some time.

It's nice that Google translation works so good, otherwise I had try to translate some parts of the report.

Finally part four of this trip is online.
I found it today at Drehscheibe-Online.

The German (original) version can be found here : German Version

The English translation (I used Google translation) you can find here: English Version

I enjoyed reading the report and the photos are really very good. I think you also might enjoy the fourth part of this report.

Andreas - thanks for pointing out this link; the photographic quality is just fantastic. Whoever created this not only had great shots, but did a bang-up job scanning them. I'm curious though: are there photos of the section from Cape Town to Johannesburg?

Hi David,
I think there will come later also pictures from the section Cape Town - Jo'burg. But I'm not the author and there are now 4 parts of the journey online.
If you have a look at the map the author has created, you see the lines he travelled by train.
The beginning was in Jo'burg and he hasn't yet arrived in Cape Town.
Every time I find the next part of the journey I will post it here in this thread.
