PRASA Metro signalling upgrades planned

Post by Steve Appleton »

A special infrastructure report included with Financial Mail this week (25 June 2010) in dealing with PRASA, quotes Mr Lucky Montana on signalling upgrades as follows:

"The average age of the signalling equipment is 30 years. In Gauteng some of the equipment is up to 64 years old. The old-generation equipment is prone to vandalism, cable theft and is susceptible to adverse weather conditions, especially thunderstorms. This programme is a major undertaking for the organisation and the project has, therefore, been divided into phases for implementation."
"To train or not to train, that is the question"
