REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST (EOI)
CONSULTANCY SERVICES TO STUDY AND RECOMMEND THE MOST SUITABLE INVESTMENT, FINANCING AND OPERATING STRUCTURE FOR LONG DISTANCE PASSENGER SERVICES AND LUXURY STEAM SAFARIS REF: KRC/PLM/EOI/01/2011
Kenya Railways (KR) is a State Corporation established under Cap 397 of the Laws of Kenya. The mandate of Kenya Railways includes developing railway networks in the country and providing freight and passenger services either directly or through third parties.
in 2006, KR conceded the operations of freight and passenger services to Rift Valley Railways (RVR) for twenty five (25) and five (5) years respectively. The concession of Long Distance Passenger Services, comprising of services between Mombasa-Nairobi; Nairobi-Nanyuki; Nairobi-Kisumu-Butere; Voi-Taveta, is due to expire on 30th June 2012. In addition, KR has recognised a business opportunity in operating Luxury Steam Safaris using the steam locomotives, which were retained in working condition.
KR wishes to procure a consultancy to study and recommend the most suitable investment, financing and operating structure for Long Distance Passenger Services and Luxury Steam Safaris at the end of the passenger services concession.
KR therefore invites interested consulting firms to express interest to provide the above consultancy service. The assignment is expected to be undertaken over a period of 10 months. Consultants intending to submit EOI are required to download the Expression of Interest Document from KR Website www.krc.co.ke/procurement and register their interest immediately on the E-mail address procure@krc.co.ke stating their names and addresses, or in writing to:
