RVR RATES UP 5%
Railways Express on March 22, 2011
Rift Valley Railways has announced its intention to increase freight charges in proportion to the rising price of fuel. These are to go up by 5% when fuel prices reach between Sh85 and Sh 90 per litre, with a further increase of 5 % if the prices rise to between Sh90 and Sh95 per litre. Another 5% adjustment will be made if fuel prices rise to between Sh95 and Sh100 per litre.
RVR executive chairman Brown Ondego says all applicable concessionary rates have been withdrawn, but points out that even after the increases, rail will remain the lowest priced mode of freight transport.
