President Dos Santos reopens Lobito/Huambo railway stretch

Huambo - The Angolan head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, Tuesday here reopened train traffic between the port city of Lobito, in central Benguela province, and Huambo (centre).

On the occasion, the head of State travelled a small stretch of the railway into Huambo central station, before inaugurating the undertaking.

Traffic between the two cities has been restored after 27 years of stoppage due to the long lasting war the ravaged the country.

The head of State arrived in Huambo in the morning for a few hours visit.
