Kampala to London 1968

From an old colleague in East Africa:
In 1968 you could buy a ticket to London in the railway station in Kampala which at that time took you to Namasagali, then by boat to Masindi port, a night in the railways hotel in Masindi (next to the station - next time you are there look at the buildings, though I am sure you already know much more about it than I do), then down to Butiaba and the steamer to Nimule. In 1968 it met the convoy to Juba and then you took the steamer to Kosti ...

I always regret I never bought the ticket.
