Trainwise, nothing moving due to strike. Did try and get into the firmly locked shed but no go. Did see four of the Chinese locos, one burned-out and the others looking decidedly shabby.
A businessman I met later had this to say about the loco deal. "The Chinese are always the best value ... in the short term."
A railway soource confirmed that all four 32.200 locos are still in use, roaming as required across the system and no longer just the Gobabis branch. The two class 24s are still at Keetmanshoop but in deteriorating condition. Some people have made half-hearted proposals to operate them but both their pitches and the response to them has been lukewarm.
Amazing to see various plinthed steam locos with all their brasswork and cab fittings intact.
